The technology of audio and video tape and computer disks has profoundly affected modern life. The Tracks of Technology kit makes it possible to "develop" the patterns of magnetization on magnetic media, making the tracks visible to the unaided eye. You can examine the tracks and sectors on a computer floppy disk; or you can see the video, audio and control tracks on video tape.
Contents of the kit include lengths of different types of pre- recorded tape and formatted floppy disks; a water-based safe-to- handle, one-step developer/fixer; developing pan; forceps and an illustrated manual that clearly explains the basics of magnetic media recording.
The track/sector pattern on the now-obsolete 360K, 5.25" floppy disk is much easier to see than the pattern on newer disks. A High-Density 3.5" disk may require a magnifier. (Yes, there is a "floppy" 3.5" disk of magnetic media inside a 3.5" "floppy.")
The Tracks of Technology kit is out-of-stock and is no longer in production. Email us if you are a distributor interested in marketing this kit. If there is sufficient interest, we may be able to re-start production.
